Bubu the dimwit

This page is dedicated to a particularly silly but adorable budgie called Bubu the dimwit. She is white in color, with lovely blue streaks and round black eyes which seem large for her slender frame.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The first day she came into my life, i was unprepared for her loud panicky squawks as I introduced myself to her. She had scant hair on her head and was emaciated. I surmised she was a baby and would grow up into a gorgeous princess who would find suitors from far and wide when she would grow up.

As days went by and i got to know her better, her passion for gorging huge quantities of food (which did not augment her puny size) became apparent. She blissfully ignored everyone and I failed to train her to be friendly to humans. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Soon, a transformation began to happen and she became a beauty in her own right, her fur became white and began to glow, the blue streaks on her cheeks began to appear clearer. Even though budgie princes from far away lands did not line up on our doorstep, I fell in love with this awkward and stupid bird who just refused to learn. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Her partner "Budgie boy" was a renowned rascal and narcissist. He would peer into the mirror and chirp sweet nothings at his mirror image for hours, often beginning early in the morning at sunrise and was a prim and proper bird who would bathe everyday himself and preen his feathers. In fact, here is a picture of his lordship gazing at his visage .. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

One day when administering Ivermectin, which is a strong anti mite medicine Bubu almost died at my hands. I came home to find her almost blind and paralyzed. She could hardly stand on her tiny pink feet and was completely devoid of sight. Despite all care in administering the right dosage, this bird's small body reacted badly to this rather strong medicine. In deep guilt I spent the whole night in the other bedroom checking up on her every hour. She seemed so droopy as shown in the picture below. I realized just how much I came to love her and how even the best intentions go badly wrong sometimes. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Showing spunk and regenerative abilities which would put even behemoth beasts to shame, in a day's time she was back to her silly pranks and nervous flutter. If you look carefully at my palm in the picture below, you will find written the name of a possible antidote to Ivermectin poisoning! Boy, what a tale! Little Bubu completely recovered and is the leader of the pack of budgies back home. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
